TIMBER LOFT LADDERS

NOTES & SPECIFICATIONS

« Back to Timber Loft Ladders

Typical view in loft when closed

All of our timber loft ladders are supplied complete with the hatch surround ( or casing ) and the trapdoor.  Loft ladders are in three hinged sections and attached to the upper face of the trapdoor.

"Typical view in loft when closed" (above) shows how they all sit on the trapdoor and require no space inside the loft beyond the limits of the casing ( Unit Plan Size ).

All are fully assembled and only need mounting in the ceiling. Some easy height adjustment of the ladder may also be necessary.  Full fitting instruction sheets supplied, including detailed notes and templates for cutting the ladder length if it is too long.

There are several advantages to these timber loft ladders but consider one disadvantage - because they are complete with trap and casing you will almost certainly need to change the size of your existing loft opening to the "Unit Plan Size".  This is normally not a problem when a new opening is being cut.  ( We strongly recommend that loft openings are not cut or altered until you take delivery of the ladder.  It's unlikely, but specifications do sometimes change and the dimensions quoted should be treated as reasonably accurate, not exact. )

Consider also that several of the timber loft ladders have quite narrow apertures and there will not be room to pass large boxes etc into the loft ( see "Max Internal Clear Width between hatch support arms" ).  Remember that the "Unit Plan Size" quoted is the EXTERIOR measurement - the casing and hatch support arms reduce this dimension.
