WILL
IT
FIT?
Before
buying
a
loft
ladder
you
MUST
take
several
measurements
to
be
certain
it
will
fit.
- FLOOR
-TO-FLOOR
HEIGHT
-
record
the
vertical
drop
(A)
between
the
floor
in
the
upper
room
and
the
floor
in
the
room
below,
including
the
thickness
of
floorboards,
joists
and
ceiling.
- CEILING
HEIGHT
-
record
the
vertical
drop
(B)
in
the
room
below
from
ceiling
to
floor.
- TRAPDOOR
SIZE
-
record
the
clear
length
and
width
of
your
trapdoor
(D
and
E).
- LOFT
CLEARANCE
ARC
-
most
loft
ladders
will
swing
through
an
arc
in
the
loft
as
they
are
raised
and
lowered.
Record
the
vertical
and
horizontal
distances
to
obstructions,
measuring
from
the
hinge
end
of
the
trapdoor
(
C,
Ch,
Cv
).
This
requires
thinking
in
3-dimensions
-
you
may
find
it
easier
to
draw
another
sketch
at
90
degrees
to
the
one
below
(
as
if
you
were
standing
on
the
loft
ladder
looking
forwards
)
and
note
the
dimensions
on
that
for
both
Left
and
Right
sides.
If
you
have
horizontal
clearance
(Ch)
over
7ft
and
vertical
clearance
(Cv)
over
4ft
you
don't
need
to
measure
accurately
-
you
have
more
than
enough
clearance.
If
you
have
no
clearance
at
all
please
see
our
various
Concertina
alloy
loft
ladders
or
our
Timber
loft
ladders.

Check
against
dimensions
shown
on
price
lists
to
find
which
loft
ladders
will
fit.
Please
check
your
measurements
carefully
as
we
are
unable
to
accept
returned
loft
ladders
which have been opened and don’t
fit. |
Note
:
- Most
alloy
loft
ladders
(but
not
all)
are
measured
by
the
vertical
height
from
FLOOR-to-FLOOR
i.e.
from
the
floor
in
the
loft
to
the
floor
below,
including
the
height
of
the
floor
boards
and
joists.
- Most
alloy
loft
ladders
need
to
swing
through
an
arc
in
the
loft
when
being
raised
and
lowered.
Check
you
have
no
obstructions
to
this
Clearance
Arc.
- Make
sure
your
loft
opening
is
of
the
size
stated
(“MINIMUM
trapdoor
size”)
or
larger.
- Our
TIMBER
loft
ladders
do
not
require
any
clearance
in
the
loft
because
they
fold
on
top
of
their
own
trapdoor.
- For
our
alloy
loft
ladders
your
trapdoor
must
hinge
downwards,
not
push
upwards
into
the
loft.
- We
are
always
happy
to
give
advice
in
choosing
a
loft
ladder
but
will
need
to
know
your
available
dimensions
first.

It
is
essential
that
you
check
your
dimensions
carefully
before
ordering.
We
cannot
exchange
loft
ladders
which
have
been
incorrectly
ordered, opened and
do
not
fit.
