The new Work at Height
Regulations 2005 were published in April 2005.
Although they do not ban the use of traditional stepladders they do emphasise the importance of risk assessments in determining whether steps are the safest tool for any given job. In general, the regulations promote the use of safer alternatives such as Podium Steps and other low-level work platforms which provide guardrails around operatives and significantly improved stability.
